Prof Dr. Eugene Rameckersfocuses on the development of tests in the functional therapy, and functional strength training upper and lower limb in children with disabilities and especially Cerebral Palsy. He is the developer of innovative treatment modalities in the rehabilitation as Hand in hand Survival Camp for adolescents with CP and Functional Intensive treatment camps for children severe disabilities, with focus on self-care, sitting and standing balance problems ( FiTCare4U) in co-operation with Columbia University,( New York), Universite Catholique Louvain (Belgie), Maastricht University and Adelante rehabilitation center in the Netherlands. He is research coordinator of the multi-center Task-Oriented Arm Strength Training study in children with CP (TOAST-CP) in the Netherlands. He is cooperating in the Co-Active at Hand multi-center Trial (CO-AD) in the field of implicit and explicit motor learning in children with CP. He started a new research area in cooperation with Prof. Dr Katrijn Klingels in the field of motor fatigability of the upper limb in children with CP.His research is both in the clinical, biomechanical and neurological perspective. He was invited to join an international expert group with the aim of providing consensus for upper limb treatment in children with unilateral CP, supervised by Prof. A. Eliasson (Karolinska Insitute, Stockholm, Sweden). The collaborative discussions among the international expert group resulted in a scientific paper with consent guidelines on upper limb treatment. He obtained both his first degree sport teaching diploma and his physical therapy, his pediatric master of science diploma , his neuromotor master of science diploma in the Netherlands. His work in developing FiTCare4U was nominated for the KFA-JKF price in the Netherlands in 2015. His co-operation in this field contains both Columbia University in New York (prof. Dr. A. Gordon), Cape Town University South Africa (prof. Dr. B. Smits Engelsman), Kathmandu University in Nepal ( Dr. Smita K.C., Avansplus University for professionals the Netherlands and VUMC university in the Netherlands (Prof. J. Becher, physiatrist), Maastricht University, (Prof Dr. J. Vermeulen, pediatric neurologist).Prof. dr. Eugene Rameckers is (co)author of 64 publications in leading scientific journals in the field of rehabilitation sciences (H-index 15) and currently (co-)supervises six PhD students.
